About us
The Christian Union of Romania is a non-profit and non-governmental association with Christian and charity character, which carries out its activity with the approval of the Romanian Church United with Rome Greek-Catholic, Eparchy of Cluj-Gherla. It was founded on the basis of the Law no. 21/1924 and decree no. 31/1954
The Christian Union of Romania is authorized by the Accreditation Commission within the Ministry of Labor, Family and Social Protection. The authorization was given for the social services: temporary accommodation, psychological counseling, care, socialization, spending free time, information and professional guidance, social counseling and addiction counseling.
Mission
The purpose of the Christian Union of Romania is to carry on economic, social, cultural and religious activities in order to recall the spirit of Christ, of fraternal love and charity in the life of every person.
Through our social programmes and activities we want to promote Christian values, the only values capable of raising the individual and social standard of life.
From its foundation in 1989 to the present date, the Christian Union of Romania has been carrying on spiritual and social programmes.
We have organized domestic and abroad camps with educational purpose, for being familiar with one another and also for sharing experience.
Some of the young members managed to study theology and they became priests or they dedicated their lives to Christ by joining the monastery.
We’ve helped children, teenagers, old people and families in need. For these categories of beneficiaries the aid was pecuniary, educational and spiritual.
At the same time, the Christian Union of Romania carried on social programmes in co-operation with other domestic and abroad churches, organizations and associations.
Projects
1. “Distance help” project
“Distance help” is a social service that prevents the abandonment and the institutionalization of children/teenagers that come from families in difficulties.
Number of beneficiaries: 54
The Christian Union of Romania has been supporting these beneficiaries by securing them a social, emotional and spiritual support but also by offering them alternatives for spending free time.
2. “Saint Augustine” program
“Saint Augustine” program has the purpose of rehabilitating the alcohol addicted adult persons.
Within this program is functioning the Residential Center “Saint John of God”, a center of temporary accommodation for homeless people.
Beneficiaries: a center with 9 places
The project has been carried on in co-operation with Cluj City Hall
3. “Alma Mater” project
The project purpose is to support 20 single mothers in difficulty, with one or more children.
Beneficiaries: 20 single mothers from Cluj
30 children of those families
The project has been carried on in co-operation with Cluj City Hall

The Holy Mass – everyday, Eucharistic Adoration, Spiritual meditations, Spiritual assistance, Catechism class, Prayer groups, Pilgrimages.

“Family Day”
Family Day is an important event within the Greek-Catholic Church
This event is celebrated with children, teenagers and families within the Christian Union projects. The purpose of this event is to make the families be aware of their importance and their role in the church.
“The Way of the Cross” Procession
The Christian Union of Romania founded in 2004 with the blessing of the bishop Florentin Crihalmeanu , “The Way of the Cross” Procession.
By this procession, the Christian Union of Romania wants to rememorize the way of the Cross by nonverbal gestures and mimic.
At this procession participated Associations, Foundations, Congregations and Religions from Cluj Napoca
